MASTER BUILDERS
The Registered Master Builders Association (Master Builders) is a membership organisation representing residential and commercial building and construction companies. Master Build Services Ltd provides the Master Build Guarantee.
Master Builders advocate for the industry and their members with government and construction industry organisations. Working Groups (Vertical Construction, Residential and Commercial) provide technical guidance and advice. Core issues include the economic outlook, building materials supply constraints, and labour constraints for skilled workers.
The Master Builders Manifesto focuses on improving the productivity and efficiency of NZ’s building sector and on three critical areas:
• Smoothing the boom-bust cycle
• Consenting and procurement
• Climate action – where we build, how we build and how we can recycle to reduce our footprint
The Master Builders website offers advice and guidance to homeowners for new builds and renovations:
• Advice on getting projects started, explaining the steps in the process, contracts and guarantees, legal advice and council consents processes
• The importance of good communication and trust with your builder
• Price escalations and contract variations
• Site visits and inspections
The Master Builders’ resource library includes information from MBIE on Building Code compliance, the Building Act 2004, the Construction Contracts Act 2002, and the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
