SOLAR HEATING

Chris Dearsley: Local Business Owner, Harrisons Solar

Why Solar?

Firstly, let's explain the simplicity of Solar Power.

1. Sun Rays hit the Solar Panels on the roof.
2. The Solar Panels take the Sun Power into an Inverter.
3. The Inverter takes the Sun Power and converts that to House Power.
4. Batteries can then ‘store’ this Power

This source of power is cost-effective – not only does it lower your power bill, it may actually give you energy ‘credit’, creating energy independence. There are benefits for the environment/planet, reducing the carbon footprint, is sustainable and energy-efficicent. Another consideration is the use of Batteries, which can store/stockpile your own energy/power.

Cost Factors

The following links give an indication of costs/payback after installation and benefits for the environment. They are based on common scenarios, and give a representation of potential savings to both your wallet and to the environment... (obviously, there is flexibility for many other situations)

Solar works single EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR

New Zealand has abundant sunshine and generates between 1,700 and 2,100 sunshine hours annually. Some areas, like Nelson and Gisborne, receive as much as 2,400. Solar Panels don’t require sunshine; they require daylight, so Solar Panels work year-round, even in the lower South Island.

Installing Solar

(Phil Harrison, Managing Director) “One of the most common questions we're asked about Solar is, ‘How long does it take to install?’ Before we go ahead and provide one simple answer, every installation is different, so let's have a look at the installation process and what's involved!”

New Build and Renovations

Solar panels are suitable for both new builds and renovations. In the case of new builds we recommend contacting us as early as possible. Ideally, we would get involved in the design stage to make sure the property is viable for solar, and we can advise roofing materials and the best course of action for the clients to use.

80% of our business is renovations – we install solar panels on a wide variety of existing of properties.
